Containers are generally built to the specification laid down by the International Standards Organisation.
The sizes of containers in most frequent use have an exterior dimension of 20ft length x 7ft 9ins wide x 8ft 6 ins high or 40 ft, with same height and width. However it is slowly becoming more common to see containers that are 9ft 6ins high, and containers, known as “Euro Boxes”, designed for the optimum carriage of the Euro Pallet.
